Letter to the Little One
Sunday, August 19th, 2007
Dear Little One,
I think is the time to tell you about your Papa, and just how lucky you are to have him.
I should begin with some context. Some people say we are so deeply in love that we look like two adolescents… And because I love him I should not be the right person to tell you he is the best in the world! So I have to admit that Papa has human faults like anyone else. Most of the times he does not listen to me – he just pretends he is listening and keeps on saying: “Hum, Hum, yes Dear”. He always feels like cooking, but I have to answer questions like “Where are the groceries?” – when he mounted the all shelf and set place for all the products! How could I live without him? However I have to admit - if I was treated like a Princess before, now I am being treated as a Queen!
I think mothers always believe the father of their children is the best in the World. Yours is definitely the best father in the world, the best father I could ever wish for you.
Your Papa will be your best teacher for all things outdoors and space-like. Watching the stars and satellites in orbit on very clear nights - these are only some of the things I’ve learnt with him. He will also teach you the difference between a satellite and a plane in the sky! And I guess you’ll like accompanying him on his runs and bike rides. He is already planning to buy a special pram so that you can go for a run together. I think he can also teach you how to play the guitar – as I have been a lousy apprentice. Or maybe you are already so used to it that is no mystery anymore…
He is sometimes very serious but also silly – so silly that makes me laugh! So I predict many and many secrets between you both, that I will not dare to interfere or understand… He will also be the reference for your future life. He will teach you how to be honest, polite, hard working and self-confident. I think he is as happy as me with the good news!
So I really think you have the best father in the world!
I love you,
Mama
